Skyrim Stories: Ayla Storm-Caller pt 1

Background: I’ve been playing at Skyrim for about a year now, but I’ve never created any kind of backstory for any play through. The live another life alternate start mod gave me a perfect setup to start one.

I am Ayla Storm-Caller. I woke up with a terrible headache from the blows to my head, and I was very cold. It took a minute to figure out I’d been dumped north of Windhelm. Six years of hell underground in the mines, and they nearly beat me to death and then dumped me to freeze, I suppose. Thank Mara I immediately felt my magicka return once I was out of the cave. I healed myself enough to get to my feet.

If I can get to Riverwood, and back to my Aunt Mildreth, I can start looking for Sofia. It’s been six long years; she was just a baby when I left her. I have no idea where she is. Who knows what he told her?

I walked to Windhelm and spent the night in a flea-infested inn. If I never see another Stormcloak, it’ll be too soon. I saw a little girl, selling flowers. Could it be Sofia? Or am I so desperate to find her, I’ll see her in every little face? The last Stormcloak sold me into that hellscape and took her Divines know where. If he’s not dead I’ll kill him myself, if I ever find them. As hard as it was to not spend time looking for my little girl, I know I need to get somewhere safe to heal.

Took the cart to Whiterun. I walked to the cottage outside of Riverwood from there. I was hungry and tired, and my head was in need of a legitimate healer, but I was free.

The cottage was empty, and there was a letter from Mildreth to my cousin. Who knows how long it’s been empty? The hearth fire started easily, and I was finally able to eat my fill. I missed Honningbrew mead; nothing but ale in those mines. Maybe I’ll make my way to Whiterun in a day or two.

I prayed to Mara, thanking her for keeping me alive, ate, bathed the stink of hell off my skin, and then slept. The first sleep without nightmares in six years.
